National Environment Agency of Singapore (NEA) on 18-1 adds many establishments selling food and business in this country have adopted the solution of food waste on site, reducing food waste.
Channel News Asia reported that the convenience stores, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels and shopping centers Amara Tanjong Pagar at more than 1.5 tons of food waste per day.
Usually the excess food will be discarded to the waste treatment plant or landfill. But as soon as the system of food waste is applied, the base on recyclable food with this new system.
The system works by using bacteria to break down food waste into water slurry - a combination of liquids and solids. This mixture is then passed through a filter and recycle wastewater into clean water and then pumped back into the system.
NEA said the growing number of food business establishments applying this system. Meanwhile NEA also co-finance 10 projects in food waste recycling.
"In addition to playing a role in creating a friendly environment where we can recycle food waste is damp odor, we can reduce the frequency of garbage disposal" - Ng Khee Slong of Amara said.
If this system was put into operation in Singapore, the food waste in the area will be focused on facilities for recycling systems to produce clean water from food waste and help Singapore become clean and greener.
