The fictional Korean missile reaches a height of 2,000km
A statement by the Japanese defense minister said a South Korean ballistic missile fired 14-5 in the morning reached a height of more than 2,000 kilometers before falling into the sea, shocking many.
North Korea's Unha-3 rocket launches in 2016. Its military variant is the Taepodong 2 intercontinental ballistic missile.
Until the end of the 14-5, it is unclear what type of ballistic missile was used in the daylight test.
Is the space rocket?
According to USPACOM, the trajectory of the North Korean missile this morning shows it is not an intercontinental ballistic missile. USPACOM insists it takes time to determine exactly what type of missile is used.
The key is the declaration that the missile has hit more than 2,000 km (s) by Defense Secretary Tomomi Inada, led by Reuters. Inada said that this could be a new type of missile developed by the North.
The conflict between the two streams of information provided by Inada and USPACOM has left many confused. Combining both US and Japanese claims will lead to a question: not intercontinental ballistic missiles that reach altitudes of more than 2,000 km, what kind of ballistic missile? There is only one possibility, is the space rocket.
May be the minister said "pit", or USPACOM misjudged. But even in the case of both the accuracy of the information, it is no surprise to look at the North Korean missile depot.
In theory, space rockets are still classified as ballistic missiles because of their orbital trajectory.
According to the Strategic and International Research Center (CSIS) missile site, North Korea owns an ICBM called Taepodong-2 with a range of 10,000-15,000 km (3 stages), or 4,000 - 10,000 km (2 motors).
When used as a space rocket, Taepodong-2 is called Unha-3. The most recent launch of Unha-3 was in February 2016.
According to CSIS, the Korean rocket successfully carried the Kwamongsong-4 satellite into synchronous sun orbit.
Mechanism of operation
Accurate information about this new Korean missile will be verified. However, ballistic missiles flying at hundreds of kilometers are ... commonplace.
Typically Pukkuksong-2 medium-range ballistic missiles were shot in February by the North in February.
This is the latest variant of the North Korean-made Pukkuksong-1 (SLBM) ballistic missile.
The Pukkuksong-2 rocket flew about 500km, reaching a maximum altitude of 550km before dropping into the Sea of Japan.
This comes from the characteristic operation of ballistic missiles.
Graphics simulate the orbit of a ballistic missile carrying multiple warheads. The section containing the warhead is shown in red on the rocket. At stage # 2, even before it was out of the Earth's atmosphere, there was the first unit to leave the rocket. By stage 4, the missile unit will eventually leave the warhead. The warhead will reach maximum altitude in space at stage 5 and begin to lose its heights, return to the atmosphere at 6, split into smaller rounds (# 7) and break down Vertical (8) - Source: ICBM System Program Office (SPO)
More precisely, this is the operating mechanism / trajectory of intercontinental ballistic missiles. But it is also similar to the ballistic flight of other ballistic missiles, except tactical ballistic missiles. This mechanism consists of three phases:
- Vertical firing stage: The rocket will be launched vertically for elevation. The higher the distance, the higher the altitude, the higher the speed of the missile. After escaping from the Earth's dense atmosphere, the rocket launches the second phase. In fact, there are some ballistic missiles still out of the Earth's atmosphere, typically tactical ballistic missiles.
- Middle Stage: This is the phase where ballistic missiles will reach the highest altitude in the itinerary. The rocket will move horizontally according to the law of the object thrown up in the gravity field. The orbit of the rocket is now partially elliptical shaped. After reaching the maximum altitude, the warhead will be separated from the rest of the rocket and lost its height and fall back to Earth under gravity.
- The final stage: The warhead will dive down to the vertical target. In order to increase attack efficiency and destruction, a ballistic missile usually carries a lot of warheads to prevent enemy defenses from getting in the way. In some cases, "false ammunition" is used to deceive the defense system to ensure that the actual warhead will hit and damage the enemy.

Definition and classification
In short definition, ballistic missiles are largely missile-based missiles after launch according to the principle of parabolic-ballistic flight.
Ballistic missiles are classified based on their range and launching medium. Split by shooting range includes:
- tactical ballistic missiles (150 - 300km);
- Short Range Ballistic Missile (SRBM): 300 - 1,000km;
Medium range ballistic missile (MRBM): 1,000-3,500km;
Long-range ballistic missile (LRBM): 3,500-5,500km;
- Intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM): over 5,000 km.
Basically, most ballistic missiles are launched from onboard carriers. It could be a fixed tunnel or a car with a vertical platform running on a track, tires. However, there are many cases of submarine-fired ballistic missile (SLBM) such as Pukkuksong-1 from Korea, Sagarika and K-4 from India, or JL-1 and JL-2 from China, American Trident II .... Less common is the ALBM. Thank you for leaving valuable comments
