In recent years, many reports say draconian one-child policy in China along with a girls' son preference has led to a situation many people choose boys, so girls are often killed during abortion or after they are born.

Estimated to be about 30 to 60 million Chinese girls are "missing" due out.

However, a recent study makes the point that millions of girls that do not have "disappeared" like this, but just that they are not registered after birth, Global News Channel put 30-11 days credit.

"Many people thought that 30 million girls missing. That figure is the total population of the state of California that, "Global News quoted associate professor of political science John Kennedy of the University of Kansas (USA).

No child policy compliance

Kennedy's research along with Professor Shi Yaojiang economics from the University of Xi'an, China, published in the Journal China Quarterly, argues that people living in remote areas who are not at policy implementation children and they cover each other.

"Instead they made the tacit agreement to allow more families with children, for the sake of social stability in their communities," the study said.

Share with Global News, Kennedy said he started his research 20 years ago when he was living in a small village in the northern province of Xi'an.

"We observed the 3 to 4 families with children, and it is clear that the children told us that they are not birth registration," Kennedy explained.

After seeing that, and knowing parents in minority communities prefer girls over, he began to wonder about this common view in other places do not.

Then, he and his colleagues began studying the national statistics, comparing the number of children born in 1990 with the young men and women aged 20 in 2010, and discovered that a large number of people statistically zero.

According to the Washington Post, the researchers discovered another 4 million people, including more women and 1 million men.

Thus, the story takes gender imbalance in China, men more than women, can not be declared like Mr. Kennedy analyzed.

Those without identification

When asked whether the census data used are trustworthy he not associate professor Kenney said their data was used to analyze the data of other researchers was used for many decades.

"This study was not submitted to the state agency before publication nor censored details," Mr. Kennedy added. "Hence, the Chinese government does not really affect our study, but we hope our research could affect Beijing".

According to Kennedy, the girls thought that people were "disappeared" have no proof of identity and are disadvantaged.

"They can not stay at the hotel, they could not buy a train ticket, and also the difficulty of finding a full-time job," he added.

"The Chinese government is also acting to ensure everything has been over 18 proof, although they have a birth certificate or not," Mr. Kennedy said. "And I think this is a good move to protect those who are not registered in the population data."
